Neighborhood description
The picturesque village of Carloforte is the only inhabited settlement on San Pietro, an island in the small Sulcis archipelago. The beaches near the town of Carloforte are the most famous on the island and vary greatly from one another: some are sandy, others are dotted with pebbles, and still others are rocky. The beach closest to the center of Carloforte is Il Giunco; another beach near the center is Guidi, a beach with fine sand interspersed with dark rocks. For those who love beaches with a mix of sand and gravel, the recommended beach is Spiaggia di Girin.
The island of San Pietro isn’t very large and can be driven around in a single day. It’s therefore easy to reach each of its beaches starting from Carloforte. Along the island’s western coast are La Caletta Beach and Conca Beach, while along the southern coast, be sure to visit Chinolle Beach
