The most beautiful beach in Mexico. The staff is always friendly and helpful. This was our second stay at Mia reef. They were more than accommodating. If you are looking for an all inclusive resort, this is the way to go.
Beautiful beach. Great location. Rich was great and accommodating to all our needs. The entire staff team was also great and accommodating. Would definitely stay longer next time.
Where do I start from?
Supposedly is low season but the hotel room was $400 a night: I wonder how much is for the high season…
Definitely you can see the hotel was in a low season mode: short of staff, parts of the resort closed such as the beauty saloon or open 1 day yes one day no like the Italian and Mexican restaurants, dead plants in a vase in the corridors etc etc.
The all inclusive was one of the scam that I was more upset about: another way for the hotel to make money: all inclusive didn’t allow you to eat at La chevicheria for example or to have a margarita cocktail with 1800 reposado tequila instead of the cheap staff that we’re offering such as Sauza tequila ($16 at the liquor store for the full bottle): drink’s poorly made in a very dirty condition: dirty surroundings and dirty hands: bartender was picking his nose and than touch ingredients that goes in your drink or moving furniture around without cleaning their hands afterwards : disgusting.(by the way I have a video w
The hotel has 3 restaurants: Italian - Mexican and chevicheria.
Towel expirence : 4 people talking amount each other and me standing there waiting for them to finish talking.
Beach service experience: you can order a drink but you cannot order food: you need to go yourself to get food from the buffet… excuse me what? Only 1 server on duty that try to ask me for money in exchange of food service: again what kind of service are you offering for $400 a night?
Prior that we made a reservation to
We travel regularly multiple times a year to the area and every all inclusive resort has been great. However, this resort lacks many items. The rooms are a upper scale motel 6 quality, the smell is not pleasant, the food options are slim to none. They claim 3 restraunts but that is not the case. We have never switched rooms before but we had to request different rooms. We went with 2 other couples that had to moved also. The view is the only good thing about the resort. We love the island itself and have traveled to the island numerous times. If we ever stay on the island again it will be at secrets. This is far from a luxury all inclusive resort. Other than breakfast having a decent omelet we preferred to eat every meal out on the street over the 1 restaurant and small buffet. If this would of been my only all inclusive I have ever stayed at I would never try one again.
I love the lagoon and the staff was nothing but frist class. However, there were a few things that could be addressed. One would be that they use an oustide cleaning company to service their guests rooms. This became a little bit of an issue when there was miscommunication between these two parties. But the Mia Reef staff quickly solved the problem for us.
Overall it was an amazing experience with only a few issues.

The only great thing about this property was location. The rooms are dated and need renovations. The food was average, nothing special. The wait staff were more interested in talking to each other than servicing their customers. I asked for water from three different people, and finally got it myself. The people at the front desk acted like you were bothing them, whenever you asked them anything. The bar staff was good. It was nice when the bartender remembered what you were drinking. Thanks Henry! Overall it's an ok place, but I've had much better food and service at other resorts.

The beach is so beautiful. Concierge/staff can be slow to respond or assist. First visit had a couch and little table set on the balcony. This time showed up with nothing on the balcony, the balcony door had to be pulled really hard to even open. They did eventually put 2 very uncomfortable chairs out on the balcony finally but was a bummer because i enjoyed the balcony first time i went here. You must book dining bearded buffet the day before. Trying to keep diet coke and water in my mini fridge was not the best. The views though are just so gorgeous!

The best I can say for the property is it has a great location. This is one of the reasons we stayed here. The rest of the amenity's are average. The food was ok at best, even in the 1 restaurant they had open. The buffet was typical food, nothing to note. The wait staff showed no interest in assisting, We had to get our own drinks numerus times while they talked in the corner. The rooms are dated and our door had gaps around the door frame. The balcony , we stayed away from the railing due to it being loose and ready to fall off. The people at check in were nice, but seemed disinterested in doing anything. We asked for change one day, and that seemed to be a problem for them. The bar was good. Overall the place has it locked down with its location.
flew in to Cancun, took the ferry over. Stayed 4 nights We walked from ferry to the resort- about 20 mins. When we arrived they came out with bottled water for us! So nice! After check-in, they had someone give us a ‘tour’- but it was really to get us to attend the timeshare/exclusives presentation. We did not attend. So yes- everyone wears wristbands. Different colors for your category I’m supposing. We had blue. There was pink, green and black. The black are timeshare folks and they are the only ones that get too shelf liquor.booked deluxe villa w/balcony. 2026 balcony had no furniture.next asked if we could get loungers. They said no problem. We came in at night and see still no loungers. They tell me that Expedias description is wrong and balconies in those rooms have no furniture. I show her the room description and she tells me no- your Expedia room doesn’t include a furnished balcony. I asked to speak to a supervisor and they were gone. As I’m chatting with Expedia, she comes back to our room and says they can move us tomorrow- Expedia called them also to rectify. In the 15+ years I’ve booked via Expedia, never had an issue. 3 stars for service. resort is a bird sanctuary just beware there is poop and cant be all cleaned up. Buffet is pretty good and variety- go early for fresher food. Bartenders all nice! The ceviche restaurant had best food! Able to get up &snorkel all day! We liked the daily activities. Not a party resort but we still enjoyed it. water is beautiful!
Property poorly maintained with many areas for improvement. A shame with such a beautiful area of beach.
Many things like TV, phone, shower in poor condition or not functioning at all.
Buffet selection very weak and limited
Recommend stay elsewhere on the island
