"In a phone call from someone from the hotel ( turns out they were from the Crescent hotel, owned by by same company,) I specifically asked about breakfast time as we had to be at Assembly rooms at 8 am. I was assured breakfast started at 7.30, even on a Saturday. On arrival I found this was not the case. The person on reception assured us that it would be be sorted with either the chef coming in early or us being walked round to other hotel. Saturday morning staff knew nothing about this but did take us to other hotel. The lift was an act of faith; we only used it going up, despite mobility issues , and twice had to get a member of staff to get the lift as the door did not always close properly. Meal in the bar was excellent…but was the restaurant ever open for anything other than breakfast? We also had to ask for more toilet roll; even budget hotels leave you a spare!"

"Comfy bed, clean room. Fantastic breakfast. Only niggle was two out of 3 small window blinds were broken. Apart from that a great stay."

"Lovely place - so not the corporate chain hotel. Had a really good evening meal. Breakfast was also excellent. Packed lunch was a bonus. Hotel is obviously geared for walkers and there seemed to be plenty of maps / info provided by the hotel. All the staff were super friendly. Can't wait to stay again."

"Really lovely room, set away from the pub. A band playing on Saturday night, and couldn't hear them from my room. Staff lovely, as we're the regulars who I got chatting to when I popped into the pub for a drink. Thanks for a great stay"
