Good base for a visit to Boston
The house was ideal for our visit to Boston with our two school age grandsons. The inside was spotless and thoughtfully stocked with everything one could need – plenty of fluffy towels, lots of kitchen utensils and small appliances, shampoo and conditioner, body wash, detergent etc. The beds were comfortable. The A/C and ceiling fans kept the place comfortable. The layout gave each of us privacy as well as plenty of space to be together. Off street parking, good WIFI and a large screen TV with Roku, Netflix etc. were all great to have. There was also an outdoor grill on the back deck, which we didn't use. There's lots of car traffic on Quincy Shore Drive but with the house windows closed, you don't hear it. The owner was immediately responsive to the two minor issues that came up. To get into Boston, we drove about a mile to the newly reopened Wollaston Red Line T station where we parked for $6/day (parking fee is payable only by PaybyPhone, a free smartphone app, which needs to be set up ahead of time. We were told by an Transit worker that If app doesn't work, you will probably receive a bill in the mail.) The train trip into the center of the city was fast and cheap. Kids 11 and under ride free with an adult. We didn't use the beach and while there were lots of runners, bikers and walkers on the adjacent walkway, we didn't see anyone on the beach proper, in the water or fishing, very possibly due to the bacteria count which varies considerably. The lifeguard chair was unmanned. There are several restaurants along the beach drive in walking distance of the house, as well as a large playground. There are many more restaurants in the area around the train station. There's a convenience store 2 blocks away from the house and a large Stop & Shop supermarket in N. Quincy. Thanks Qiong!.
