Before booking Ibis Plaza Glories, I emailed to confirm they could help store my breast milk, as I am breastfeeding. They said yes, so I chose this hotel. At check-in, I handed over a bag with more than 80 ounces of frozen milk from Portugal and clearly stated it had to remain frozen. During my stay, I also gave them newly pumped milk that only needed refrigeration.
Most staff were kind, but the day before leaving, one employee complained about the amount of milk. I told her not to worry, as I was leaving early the next day.
At 3 a.m., during check-out, I experienced one of the most painful moments of my breastfeeding journey. When I asked for my stored milk, they brought all the bags completely thawed. None of it had been kept as instructed, and I had to throw away almost 200 ounces collected over nearly two weeks.
It was heartbreaking to see all my effort and “liquid gold” wasted due to improper handling. I would have preferred an honest “no” from the start rather than a promise they didn’t fulfill. I am grateful my baby wasn’t put at risk, but this situation shows how serious improper storage can be.
I share this experience in hopes that it will prevent anyone else from going through the same.
