Very nice hotel; however, was very disappointed. Weeks prior to our stay we emailed twice to say that we would be arriving around 11:00 am after flying all night long. We requested an early checkin. Upon arrival we were told that they were "preparing" our room. We were exhausted and waited in the waiting room/reception and continued to ask if our room was ready. All other patrons that arrived were given room keys as we waited and were reminded that "check in is 3:00 pm". We were told that the delay was because we had a terrace. (We never requested a terrace and a terrace certainly was not a priority for us or a perk, all that was necessary was a clean bed for rest.) Yes, at seven minutes to 3:00 p.m. we were given our room keys. We would have surely purchased an extra night room had we even dreamt of the frustration of sleepily hanging around a reception area for 4 hours. This experience truly tainted our Amsterdam experience.
Would have given a five star for the hotel/restaurant staff; however, the front desk staff is the reason for the lesser.
Very nice continental breakfast!
