Watching the Philadelphia Flyers -- or the Broad Street Bullies as they are also known – is an electrifying experience. As their nickname implies, the Flyers play a gritty, hard-nose, intimidating brand of hockey with fast play, lots of hard checks, and the occasional fight thrown in for good measure.
The bruising play elevates even more when the Flyers are playing one of their arch-rivals like the much hated Pittsburgh Penguins, New York Rangers, or the Washington Capitals. Tickets for these regular season games at the Wells Fargo Center, which is located on Philadelphia's Broad Street, are always sought after and usually hard to find. However, a great selection of cheap Philadelphia Flyers tickets for great seats can always be found here, even for those intense rivalries.
Philadelphia Flyers fans are very passionate about their team. And it is not surprising, given the high level of success the Broad Street Bullies have had over the years. With the exception of the 2006 to 2007 season, the Flyers have made the playoffs every year since 1994. Though it's not easy scoring Philadelphia Flyers playoff tickets, you can always find a great selection here.
The Philadelphia Flyers have gone on to play for the Stanley Cup a total of three times. The Flyers took the coveted Cup home to Broad Street at the end of 1973 to 1974 season, beating the Boston Bruins, and then they repeated the feat against the Buffalo Sabres in the 1974 to 1975 season. Game three of the Sabres/Flyers Stanley Cup final is infamous for having been played in a thick haze of fog because Buffalo’s arena didn’t have air conditioning and the town was experiencing an unusual May heat wave.
Unfortunately, the Philadelphia Flyers' most recent trip to the Stanley Cup finals, which occurred in the 1996 to 1997 season, wasn't as successful as its past runs. The Broad Street Bullies were, sadly for Philly fans, swept by the perennial powerhouse known as the Detroit Red Wings.
The Flyers first earned the nickname, Broad Street Bullies during the 1972 to 1973 season. Over the years, even as players and coaches have come and gone, the team has been able to retain its gritty, working-class image. Fans who attend a game at the Wells Fargo Center are guaranteed an exciting time, especially during the playoffs.
Thanks to an exceptionally well done television series called "24/7 Flyers/Rangers: Road to the NHL Winter Classic" that aired during the 2011 to 2012 hockey season, fans outside of the Philadelphia area got an up close and personal look at Philly's favorite team on ice, as well as their hated rivals, the New York Rangers. The show, which aired in four episodes, followed the two teams as they headed to the Winter Classic, the league's most premier event outside of the Stanley Cup.
If you've only seen the Flyers playing on television, you are really missing out. Hockey is one of those sports that has to be seen live and in person to get a full appreciation of the speed of the game, as well as the bone-jarring collisions that occur on the ice. If you don't want to miss out on seeing one of the best hockey teams in the league, buy your cheap Philadelphia Flyers tickets here, now!
