The Original Festival

It was August of 1969 when Michael Lang, Artie Kornfeld, Joel Rosenman and John P. Roberts kicked off what would later become one of the largest and most successful music festivals in all of history. The three-day event brought together over half a million music lovers to a small town in upstate New York, as an attempt to promote peace and harmony. With one of the most diverse lineups of its time, Woodstock allowed for lovers of all genres to get together and appreciate all forms of music on one stage. The original festival had performances by some of the most legendary names in music including; Santana, Grateful Dead, The Who, Janis Joplin, and Jimi Hendrix. The legacy left behind after the event was over was far larger than anyone could have ever imagined. Today the original location of Woodstock is now listed as a nationally recognized historical place, allowing it to be preserved for years to come.

50th Anniversary Festival

With 2019 marking 50 years since the legendary festival took place, original creator Michael Lang announced that there would be a 50th anniversary festival commemorating Woodstock. In 1969 Woodstock brought together people during a time of great turmoil around the world, promoting peace and unity within the community. 50 years later this remains the same goal, making a difference in the lives of people around the world. The three-day anniversary festival kicked off on Friday August 16th with original Woodstock performers Santana taking the stage alongside other top artists of today including The Killers, Miley Cyrus, The Lumineers and John Fogerty. Saturday and Sunday saw Dead & Company, Chance the Rapper, Jay-z, Imagine Dragons, Halsey, and Cage the Elephant.
