Mac Miller

Mac Miller was born as Malcom McCormick on January 19, 1992 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. By the age of six, Miller had taught himself how to play the piano, guitar, drums and bass. Growing up Mac made it known that he wanted to become a singer, but at the age of fourteen he switched gears and began to rap. In 2009, Mac Miller released his first two mixtapes, thus starting a long career that touched the lives of many. Miller quickly rose to the top of the charts after signing with the independent record label Rostrum Records. Throughout his career, Mac Miller was very open about his struggles with substance abuse. In September of 2018 the rapper was found unresponsive in his home, with the cause of death related to his substance abuse. Not long after his death was announced, musicians from across the industry began coming together to honor the late rapper.

Benefit Concert

Mac Miller- A Celebration of Life was a benefit concert honoring the late American rapper Mac Miller. The original concert that was held in October of 2018 coincided with the launch of The Mac Miller Circles Fund (MMCF), with all the proceeds from the concert going towards the fund. Founded by Mac Miller’s family, the charity seeks to help underprivileged youth explore talents within the arts. Following the rapper’s death, artists from around the industry gathered together to mourn the star. The official benefit concert happened on October 31, 2018 at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. The emotional show included a lineup of some of the best artists including; Travis Scott, Anderson. Paak, Chance the Rapper, Miguel, John Mayer, Ty Dolla $ign, and SZA.
