A constant push toward the end zone
The Hoosier football team got its start in the late 1890s, slowly picking up steam as the sport's popularity spread. In 1945 the Hoosiers won the Big Ten Championship, led by Coach of the Year Bo McMillin. The 1960s were tumultuous years for the Hoosier program. They recovered from NCAA sanctions, sharing the Big Ten title with Minnesota and Purdue in 1967 and playing in the 1968 Rose Bowl against Southern California. The Hoosiers became consistent post-season threats, appearing in the Peach Bowl, the Copper Bowl, and the Independence Bowl. In 2005 Terry Hoeppner was hired as the head coach, and his instant impact on the team seemed to herald a time of success. Despite the increase in wins and resurgence of fan support, the team's rise was cut short when Hoeppner had to take a medical leave due to brain cancer, passing away shortly after. Since then it has been a period of rebuilding, with bowl appearances in both 2015 and 2016.
Game days at Memorial Stadium are some of the most intense days of the year in Bloomington – especially if it's an Indiana-Purdue game! Feel the thrill for yourself by getting your cheap Indiana Hoosiers football tickets today!
