The Beginnings of a Powerhouse

The professional football team the Birmingham Iron are one of the original eight teams that make up the Alliance of American Football (AAF). Based out of Birmingham, Alabama the Iron play all their home games at Legion Field, that is until their new stadium is completed in 2021. The team was announced as a member of the Eastern Conference in the summer of 2018. Paying homage to the team’s city, they were named the Iron due to the rich history the city has with the iron industry. Also paying tribute to the iron industry, the colors of the team were selected as black, dark grey and light grey. In February of 2019 the Iron played their first game of their inaugural season against the Memphis Express. Setting several franchise records in one game the Iron won in their first game in a shut out of 26-0. Already making quite the name for themselves in the league, the Birmingham Iron are going to be an exciting team to watch grow as the league ages!
