In the latest edition of one of the fiercest rivalries in the NFL, it is time for the Denver Broncos to take on the Kansas City Chiefs. The Broncos and the Chiefs go back a long way. They were both members of the American Football League’s Western Conference at first. Then when the AFL-NFL merger took place in 1970, they both joined the AFC West and the animosity between the two has only increased over the years.

The Broncos-Chiefs rivalry is among the most storied rivalries in NFL history. Games between these two sides always produce memorable moments.

The Chiefs finally get the better of John Elway - On October 17, 1994, the Denver Broncos welcomed the Kansas City Chiefs for a Monday Night game at the Sports Authority Field at Mile High Stadium. The Chiefs were leading 24-21 in the fourth quarter when John Elway stepped up to score a four yard run. The clock had 1:29 to play. The Broncos fans thought they had won the game but the great Joe Montana had other ideas. He drove his team forward by seventy five yards in nine plays. Then with just eight seconds left on the clock, Montana passed to Willie Davis for a five yard run. The Chiefs won 31-28 but more importantly it stopped Marty Schottenheimer from recording his eighth defeat in succession in Denver. The Chiefs had finally overcome John Elway.

The Broncos comeback in stunning fashion - On September 17, 2015, the Denver Broncos were up against the Kansas City Chiefs at the Arrowhead Stadium. There were just 2:27 left in the game and the Broncos were down 24-17. Peyton Manning then ran a 10-play that resulted in the Broncos gaining eighty yards. Emmanuel Sanders then received a nineteen yard pass to score the touchdown and tie the game. There were just thirty six seconds left on the clock. Overtime was looming but Broncos’ Brandon Marshall forced a fumble from Jamaal Charles, the Chiefs’ running back. Bradley Roby recovered the ball and scored a twenty one yard touchdown to complete a stunning turnaround. The final score 31-24 in favor of the Broncos.
