Visitors on business or vacation, coming from San Diego to Houston will have plenty to do once they land at the George Bush Intercontinental Airport. Known as Space City, Houston is home to NASA's Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center as well as a number of other space-related attractions. As the largest city in Texas, Houston has ample shops and museums to explore, such as the Museum of Natural Science and the Contemporary Arts Museum.
The Houston Airport is located 18 miles outside of downtown Houston, so you will want to plan your transportation prior to arriving. Because Houston is the largest city in the country in terms of square miles, it is extremely useful to rent a car during your visit to ensure that you can get around at your own convenience.
If you're interested in exploring the area near the airport before heading into town, stop by the Deerbrook mall in Humble, just five miles from the airport. Here, you will find one of Houston's premier shopping malls.
Nonstop flights between San Diego International Airport (SAN) and George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) last about three hours. For flights that do have layovers, most last about an hour and stop in Dallas or Phoenix.
