Saranac Lake has mild, short summers and extremely cold winters. In fact, the village experiences some of the coldest temperatures in the continental United States in the winter. Temperatures tend to hover in the 60s degrees Fahrenheit range in the summer and in the teens during winter. With an average high of 77 degrees Fahrenheit, July is the warmest month of the year. January is the coldest month; temperatures can drop as low as 2 degrees Fahrenheit. Rainfall is fairly even throughout the year, with August being the wettest month.
