Major League Baseball's St. Louis Cardinals play their home games at Busch Stadium, and the National Hockey League's St. Louis Blues play their games at The Scottrade Center. The Gateway Arch is a 625-foot structure standing as a symbol to the city's role as "Gateway to the West" during the country's westward migration period. The Old Courthouse served as the legal venue for several famous trials, including the Dred Scott case and the Women's Suffrage case of Virginia Louise Minor. The Missouri Botanical Garden is comprised of an impressive rose garden, a tropical greenhouse building, a Japanese garden and the famous aqua-tunnel, which surrounds visitors with an overhead lily pond. Forest Park dates from the 1904 World's Fair and some of the structures built for it are still standing here.

St. Louis has hot, humid summers that routinely reach 85 degrees and above, while winter temperatures will dip to the freezing mark about 25 times each year. Precipitation averages about 41 inches annually, and the majority of this comes as rainfall during the March through May months each year.
