As the largest airport in the Pacific Northwest portion of North American, Seattle/Tacoma International (SEA) Airport sees a considerable amount of traffic. The Light Link Rail from the downtown area, as well as the King County Metro Transit, provides reliable transportation to the airport. Flights usually last for about an hour and twenty minutes to Reno/Tahoe International (RNO) Airport; located three miles from downtown Reno. There are shuttles, rental cars, taxis and limos available for ground transportation.
Start at the Truckee River Walk to check out some of the best restaurants and boutique shops in the area, as well as great views of the river. If you do not mind traveling a little, Lake Tahoe sits about 40 miles south of Reno. In the winter, pick up some skis and hit the slopes. In the summertime, get out your swimsuit and enjoy the beaches. Gambling is still an option, so drop by places like the Casino at the Eldorado to try your luck.
The weather attracts visitors to the area in both the summer and the winter. The area near Lake Tahoe tends to be a great place to spend some time outside. October and November are the least crowded times to visit, as the snow usually hasn't fallen, and it is starting to get too cold to enjoy lying out by the beaches. However, the weather is still great and makes being outside a pleasant experience.
