Located in Punta Caucedo, Las Americas International Airport (SDQ) is one of the main airports in the Dominican Republic. The airport is located 18 miles east of Santo Domingo, the capital city of the country. This location facilitates your arrival within the Republic and the eastern part of the country. Using a rental car gives you a hassle-free way to start and end your trip.
The airport is located strategically for easy movement to Santo Domingo and the Colonial Zone, which can be found 20 minutes away. You’ll also find Boca Chica Beach located ten minutes away, and the Juan Dolio-Guayacanes Beach, just 20 minutes away when you rent a car.
The location of the city along the Caribbean Sea, and the pleasant weather, make the area suitable for vacation and business. You’ll be able to find most of the local attractions in the Colonial Zone. Of notable mention are the museums and cultural centers in the Plaza de la Cultura. Here, the top attraction is the Museum of the Dominican Man, which showcases a collection of pre-Columbian Taino artifacts.
It takes two hours and 30 minutes to fly from Orlando International Airport (MCO) to SDQ. At the airport, you must pay for a 15-day immigration card, which can be extended up to 90 days.
