Manhattan is only four miles away from the New York La Guardia (LGA) Airport but traffic can really put a damper on the trip. Instead, opt to take the New York Subway or the Long Island Rail Road to the AirTrain station. From there, you can head straight to the airport. Typical flight times are two hours to Madison Dane County Regional (MSN) Airport. The Madison Metro Bus as well as rental cars can be picked up outside of door six. Taxis and courtesy cans are also available.

Attractions and Tips

One of the most popular and unique attractions in Madison is the Olbrich Botanical Gardens. Here you can check out sunken gardens, rock gardens and a tropical observatory. Boasting of the only granite dome in the US, make sure to tour the Wisconsin State Capital. If you are feeling brave, take a lesson in Madison Log Rolling! The Badger Bus travels from Madison to Milwaukee several times a day if you are interested in extending your visit further out. The ride is about 90 minutes long.

Expect a wide difference between the winter conditions and the summer conditions. In the winter, temperatures can go below freezing and produce snow, bringing out the winter sports enthusiasts. On the other hand, summers often linger in the lower 80s with higher humidity.
