Indianapolis International Airport (IND) is the largest airport in Indiana and is situated seven miles outside downtown Indianapolis. The airport can be reached via Exit 68 off I-70, which is only five minutes west of the city’s I-465 beltway.
For trips to Charlotte Douglas (CLT), the flight duration is generally two hours. Connecting the airport to the downtown Charlotte Transportation Center is the Sprinter Enhanced Bus Service, which can be found in the commercial lanes in front of Zone D Baggage Claim. Charlotte is only a 16-minute drive from the airport via I-85 N.
For some family entertainment, the Carowinds amusement park fits the bill, while Ray’s Splash Planet offers some indoor waterpark-related fun. The aircraft exhibit at Carolinas Aviation Museum is another popular tourist attraction, while the NASCAR Hall of Fame is a must for racing fans.
The Charlotte Motor Speedway is another attraction that should not be missed. If you are a history buff then don’t forget to check out the Charlotte Museum of History or Levine Museum of the New South.
If you plan on visiting Charlotte during the summer months be sure to bring light clothing, as you’ll encounter hot temperatures. Sunscreen is also a must when visiting the outdoor attractions. Accommodation near the city center offers easy access to all the points of interest, but cheaper accommodation is also available near the airport area.
