Philadelphia is a wonderful city to visit because it offers many historical sites, great food and activities. Travelers can enjoy visiting the Betsy Ross House, the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall, and that’s just the start.
Longwood Gardens and the Morris Arboretum, with its 19th-century grounds and long canopy walk, are beautiful to behold. The Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Rodin Museum can keep you busy for hours. You’re also less than a two hour drive from Hershey with Hershey Park, Chocolate World, and many other attractions.
Since Philadelphia is a fairly large city, and there are many places to visit in the surrounding countryside, a rental car with GPS provides you with the best option for reaching the most attractions.
In addition to Hershey Park, Lancaster in Pennsylvania Dutch country is a great place for travelers to explore. Visitors there can take tours of Amish country, to see what farm life was like in the 1800s, as well as a tour of President James Buchanan’s home, Wheatland.
The most historic part of Philadelphia is about 12 minutes from Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) on North I-95, so it’s most convenient to pick up your rental car there. Reasonably priced off-street parking is available near Independence National Historical Park.
