The open living space feels bright and inviting, with a comfortable flow between the kitchen, dining area, and lounge. It's an intimate home made for unhurried days together, where a leisurely breakfast can turn into an afternoon outside and there's little reason to rush anywhere.

Bijou's outdoor spaces are what make this little cottage so special. Wooden decks wind between enormous granite formations, turning the natural landscape into a series of intimate places to relax and explore. The private hot tub sits among the rocks, with warm lighting that makes an evening soak feel especially inviting.



On warmer days, cool off in the seasonal cowboy tub, available March through November, or rinse off beneath the outdoor shower built into the boulders. Stretch out in a hammock with a book, settle into a lounge chair, or wander along the stone-lined paths to find a favorite spot among the rocks.



A shaded dining area and grill invite you to bring dinner outside, while the fire pit offers a place to settle in as the desert cools. After dark, the illuminated boulders create a beautiful backdrop for quiet conversation, with open skies overhead for stargazing.



The property is fully fenced and offers plenty of space to enjoy the landscape. Bijou is also near a main road, so occasional traffic and engine sounds may be heard.

With its exposed timber beams, warm mustard sofa, woven leather chairs, and collected artwork, Bijou's living room has a personality all its own. Natural light fills the open space, while soft textiles and cottage-inspired details make it feel comfortable and lived-in.



It's an easy place to spend a lazy morning over coffee or come back to after exploring Joshua Tree. Curl up on the sofa with a movie on the Smart TV, play a game together, or put on a favorite playlist through the Bluetooth speaker. The open layout keeps the kitchen and dining area close, making the whole cottage feel connected.



-Kitchen and Dining-

Soft sage cabinetry, a generous kitchen island, and warm-toned tile give Bijou's kitchen as much character as the rest of the home. Fully stocked with cookware and dining essentials, it's equipped for everything from a quick breakfast before heading out to a relaxed dinner made together.



Start the morning with coffee from the Keurig, enjoy a meal at the charming round dining table, or pull up to the breakfast bar for something casual. When the weather is inviting, take dinner outdoors and enjoy the desert setting from the shaded dining area.



-Bedrooms and Bathrooms-

Bijou has one bedroom and one bathroom, thoughtfully suited to two guests.



The bedroom is a romantic little retreat, with a king bed dressed in soft linens, patterned wallpaper in warm terracotta tones, and a comfortable armchair for reading. Cottage-style glass doors open directly onto the patio, making it easy to step outside with your morning coffee and enjoy the fresh desert air before the day begins.



The bathroom brings a moodier side to the cottage's eclectic style. Deep jewel-toned tile, rich blue-green paneling, marble accents, and warm brass fixtures create an intimate, beautifully detailed space. A walk-in shower completes the room, offering a refreshing start or relaxing finish to a day spent among the boulders.



Guest Access:

The entire house and property are yours to enjoy! Please note that a few supply closets stay locked to store rental supplies.



Please note that there is a locked storage shed in the backyard that is not accessible to guests and is used for rental supplies.



The Neighborhood:

Bijou is tucked among boulder formations near a main road, private and secluded while close to town. Because of the nearby road, you may hear occasional traffic during your stay. Bijou is about 5 miles from the heart of Joshua Tree, about 7.6 miles from Pioneertown, about 12 miles from Joshua Tree National Park and about 30 miles from Palm Springs.



Getting Around:

A personal vehicle is necessary to get around in this area - rideshare apps are not guaranteed.



Other Things to Note:

-Cowboy Tub-

The pool at Bijou is a seasonal cowboy tub, not an in-ground pool. The cowboy tub is available from March through November. The hot tub is available year-round.



-Hot Tub Rules-

Please shower before and after using the hot tub. No pets of any kind in the hot tub. After use, please leave the cover secured in place to hold the temperature, and do not stand or sit on it. If the hot tub or cowboy tub is left in poor condition due to misuse, an additional cleaning or maintenance fee may be charged.



-House-Specific Rules-

► External speakers are not permitted.



-Pool and Hot Tub Service-

The hot tub and cowboy tub are serviced Tuesdays and Fridays, approximately between 9am and 4pm. Please note that these times are estimates and may change slightly due to our technician's busy schedule. He will not approach the house but will go directly through to the backyard.



-Pet Policy-

We welcome your dogs! There is a $100 per dog per stay fee, limit of 2 dogs maximum. Please note on your reservation how many dogs you are bringing. There is an unauthorized pet fee of $500. Please use the provided dog sheets before allowing your dogs on any furniture. Cats and other pets are not allowed.

-Wildlife & Safety-

The desert landscape is teeming with wildlife and natural beauty, offering a unique connection to nature, but it's important to be mindful of the creatures and plants that call this area home. Guests may encounter a variety of wildlife during their stay, and while direct encounters with dangerous animals like coyotes, snakes, scorpions, bobcats, mountain lions and other desert dwellers are rare, it is important to be aware of your surroundings and to keep a safe distance from these creatures when spotted. Additionally, the desert is dotted with sharp cacti and other spiky plants. For your safety, always supervise children, pets, ESAs, and service animals while outdoors. Dogs should remain on a leash at all times and be watched closely while outdoors, as they can wander into potentially unsafe situations with wildlife or plants. By booking this property, guests acknowledge the potential for wildlife encounters and assume responsibility for their safety and the safety of their group. By respecting the local environment and staying aware, you can fully enjoy the magic of the desert.



-Security Camera-

For your security, there is an exterior camera facing the front driveway, which monitors vehicles and occupancy. There are no cameras inside the home or facing any private areas, including the hot tub area.



-Cell Service-

Cell phone coverage in the area may be limited or unavailable depending on your carrier. Wi-Fi is available at the property.



-Damage Waiver Policy-

Each reservation requires either a refundable security deposit or a non-refundable damage waiver.
