The property is in a great location near the pickup and drop off points for the Cardrona ski bus and is good value for money with a guest kitchen for skiers that want to make their own breakfast early in the morning and have two excellent cafes next door - Scroggin cafe for delicious lunch and Amigos for fabulous dinners

The manager decided to have all the Lake View room carpets washed at the same time which meant that there were NO lakeview rooms available. We have travelled nineteen thousand km and booked A LAKEVIEW ROOM only to be told that all the carpets were still wet and therefore unsuitable. Who does this kind of thing to customers??? The receptionist was lovely. Really kind and friendly, but she was having to cover for someone who clearly did not care about the hotels guests. We paid for the view. They decided to withdraw all lake view rooms with no corresponding offer of either a refund or discount. In fairness we we provided with breakfast - but hey, I can get breakfast anywhere - I can't travel nineteen thousand km everyday to wake up to a Lake Wanaka view!! There was absolutely no point in complaining to the manager - because there was absolutely nothing which could be done. The decision had been made to make all Lakeview rooms inaccessible to customers - nothing could be done to dry them out. I would AVOID this hotel because the manager clearly does not care about the hotels guests. For context, I stay in hotels around the world for over a hundred nights a year and experience all kinds of excellence and ineptitude. Our stay at the Wanaka Hotel sinks to a new level of disregard for customers. Please chose another hotel if you are able to! (Revised review approved by hotels.com)

Excellent ust service and a comfortable and clean.

An old hotel but well maintained. Noise from room above disturbed sleep. Convenient for town and the lake with a partial view of the mountains. Parking and WiFi were excellent.
