An off-grid comfy cabin in a quiet corner of a midcoast organic farm

A lovingly built cabin made for a getaway place for our extended family who are now too busy to keep it in use so we offer it to your family and friends! It is off-grid yet quite comfortable with oil lanterns, two burner camping stove for cooking, an indoor sink, an outhouse and an outdoor solar bag heated shower, and an outdoor fire pit. The roomy screen porch is a particular favorite with our guests. Sheets are provided and a few blankets (you may want to bring additional blankets given our erratic Maine weather) and we ask that you provide your own towels, candles and flashlights. If you come in the fall be prepared for quickly changing weather and bring your layers! A separate room with a full sized bed, and a sleeping loft with a twin and a double mattress on the floor - this site does not allow us to describe the loft properly! The main room also has a futon full couch if needed. The cabin is located adjacent to logging roads and our fruit farm which is slowly building up to full production with a kiwi orchard , ramps, and a producing strawberries in a hoophouse for early ripening fruit. We move our horse and pony around to different fields during the warmer months (and ask that you respect all fencing!), and keep pekin ducks (the white ones hence our farm name "White Duck Farm"). The farm is 75+/- acres and located on a quiet rural road - star gazing anyone? We have a canoe available to rent and use at our nearby creek and two ponds. Food markets and some very good places to eat are within 6-7 miles. Our town has a large number of conservation areas for hikes and exploring. Perfect location to explore the rest of Maine's midcoast and islands - or heck! - just relax!
Make yourself comfortable in this cabin, which has a kitchen. Conveniences include a safe and a sofa bed.
This cabin features books, designated smoking areas, and a playground.
Guests will find features like onsite parking.

Cute cabin

Honestly I was scared as a single female. Lots of wildlife sounds at night. I knew from the beginning I was roughing it for my 60th birthday. I would stay again but with another companion. Cabin was very clean. I would have preferred a blanket that was warmer. Other than that, it was good.

Beautiful and peaceful stay

This is a wonderful way to experience some of the fun of camping, but having all the amenities of a cabin/glamping type of experience. The cabin was very nice and spacious, clean, and had all the kitchen necessities we could want. The cabin location is quiet, private, and set in a beautiful woods environment. We had easy access to the Damariscotta town area and would happily stay again on a next visit.

The cabin was absolutely wonderful. It was a great "home-base" for my husband and I. We slept great. I really enjoyed using the kerosene lamps and the woodburning stove. I would absolutely recommend it.

Cozy cabin in the woods

We had a wonderful weekend getaway in this cozy cabin. Unfortunately it was a rainy time but we still enjoyed ourselves with trips to local lighthouses and towns. With the overcast weather the sun shower was a bit "refreshing"but it was still fun to bathe under the sky. Hopefully we can try again and experience nicer weather, so we can enjoy cooking with a fire and roasting marshmallows. Thank you for sharing your rustic escape with us.

Lap of Luxury

We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived to the cabin. It is spacious and clean and is very versatile as well. The location is great as it is not too far from Darimiscotta and other towns and is in a lovely spot in the woods. The porch is an amazing place to spend time with loved ones. We played cards and even some little instruments we found in town! There are plenty of places to sleep and though it is off grid, we had everything we needed to be able to cook and clean. The only thing I would have changed about it was the fact that the way the foundation of the building is, you can feel it move/sway a little when someone is walking or moving. The cabin itself is constructed really well, my friend who is a builder said that the framing was extremely neat. We have already talked about possibly going back for a longer stay in the future. It is a really nice place.

Perfect little get away/escape from the busy east to day!

My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! Barbara was very friendly and accommodating. Cabin rules and instructions were clearly laid out for us. Finding the place was a bit tricky but once you found the sign finding your way back was no problem. Remote, quiet area, refreshing return to a more natural way of life after coming from the city, which is quite sentimental to me and reminded me of my childhood. Only wish our schedule wasn’t so packed so we might’ve been able to spend more time at the cabin. However we did get out to a couple of the local bar/restaurants. Highly recommend staying here!

In A Cabin In The Woods

We LOVED, LOVED our stay at this cabin. It was the perfect retreat and escape from city living. The cabin has all that one needs, comfy bed, easy workable kitchen and it is nestled among the trees. It’s a good way to reset your clock, go to bed when it gets dark and wake up when it gets light. It was perfect. It is a great location. Close to a beautiful pond for daily swimming. Picking up supplies in town and exploring all that MAINE has to offer was easy breezy. The hosts were lovely and super nice and accommodating.

Peaceful cabin under the stars

This is a super lovely cabin owned by an artist couple, and it shows. The cabin is appropriately spare, but also really warm and beautiful. Even the outhouse is quite nice, and everything was absolutely clean and spotless. I would definitely stay here again for longer, but come prepared with dry ice for the cooler and a few of my own lanterns. Dark enough for great stargazing, but still in proximity to great food and activities.

A Off-The-Grid Serene, Picturesque and Tranquil Cabin Yet Close To It All!

What an amazing hidden gem tucked away in the woods of Waldoboro. Barbara our host and her husband built such a wonderful cabin! Providing all you could need for camping with convenience's. A solar light system which for our stay was not working. Though Barbara being a Super Amazing host provided another oil lamp. Which provide more than enough light and added to the charm of the cabin. Also being rainy and a bit chilly on our arrival day. She brought down an extra blanket as well! With a propane cooking stove, utensils, a cooler, tons of water, kitchen table/chairs, futon and really nice bedroom/bed. With a beautiful farmers porch to complete this amazing cabin. They really do think of and provide everything you could need. With an impeccable outhouse, a really nice solar shower, a great fire pit set up and lots of place to relax. You could not ask for anything better! Except there is.....just 10 mins up the road is the BEST bakery Ginger Mousse, 30 mins from Boothbay, 1 and 1/2 from Portland and so much more is close by. Making this just the best of both worlds for getting away. Thank you Barbara and your husband. For providing such a serene place to get away.

The Best of Glamping in the Maine Woods

Unplug! That is what I was able to do for a week in this simply designed cabin. Yes, there is no running water or electricity, BUT, you have the woods, the sounds of nature, a shaded cabin, a clean outhouse and solar powered outdoor shower and a solar powered radio/light for evening purposes. I did not have cell phone reception or internet connection. You will have to go to the nearby library in Damariscotta to address email and business online; but you will NOT be at the beck and call of anyone, known or unknown, who have your number and email address. THAT WILL ALL HAVE TO WAIT! And that is a good thing. Hosts are down the road and provide delicious cool well water for cooking, cleaning and showering. You will have to become familiar with the “systems” of the house, I.e. put the solar panel and control unit in the sunshine field every morning so it can charge. You will be able to charge your phone off the control panel with appropriate charging cable. You will have to fill the solar shower bag with water in the morning so that it will be warm for you upon return—simple pulley system to lower and hoist the bag upwards to do this activity. You will need some upper body strength too, to put water into the bag. Attending to your daily regiment will move more slowly since the systems require your input. The outhouse is clean and one of the best ones I have been in. Most the time, I kept the door open to enjoy the woods. My only visitor was a spider. You are a short drive on Rte 1 to Damariscotta and points south and of course north if you want to venture into the Rockport area or ferry over to North Haven or Vinyl haven. Lots of hiking and views of the ocean. The air is amazing here. You are close to the Jetport in Portland, a few hours away. If you have need of unplugging from the internet matrix and plugging into your own inner matrix, this is one way to do it.
