Worst overall experience in all my years of travel. Sad really. Arrived Christmas day 2025, solo 3 day relaxing trip. Realized my credit card expired in Nov on check in. Room was prepaid. Was told $300 cash deposit would work. When I asked for a receipt, texting between the FD Agent and his boss happened again. Told me I insulted him by my request. It was not a standard practice. Told me I was ungrateful and I could no longer stay. It was now 730 pm, and I had to contact Expedia to cancel. Ended up being that I now missed the last ferry back home and had to sleep in my car. It was such cold and unkind treatment. Was unexpected as I hadn't or didn't think it was a unprofessional or uncalled request for a receipt. Told me I could not be trusted with a receipt as I may come the next day to get my money. Tears have been shed at how I was made to feel. How I was looked at. I believe he was doing what he was instructed to, but I feel he may of also influenced the outcome.
Been some hard lessons learned.
The hotel building is old, and the rooms are musty. Washroom was badly designed, the closet door was broken and the carpet smelled bad. It is a good location though and the sheets and pillows were clean.
When we arrived the two men behind the desk continued a conversation to each other including walking away and shouting to each other for at least five minutes before greeting us. The hallways smell sickening, like something covering up rot. The bedding was stained and dirty. The shower was outdated and difficult to use. I would recommend avoiding this place.

It’s an old building with mostly original decor. The king beds are nice feature but the room we got faces a major street and the window rattles when cars pass by. The exterior enclosure is not that soundproof so we could here traffic and pedestrians talking all night
