We have stayed here multiple times when coming to the area to visit relatives. The propert is, I'm told, about to undergo a major renovation which is good. They call e d us the day before check in to let us know our king room with jacuzzi wasnt available, because the jacuzzi was broken. We took the room anyway because we wanted the king bed more than the bubbles. The shower still worked so not a big deal. The light/fan in the toilet area made a really loud rumblethat was quite disturbing. The place is just worn and dated. Staff is friendly. Breakfast bar was okay but the attendant didnt seem interested in keeping the hot foods (Scrambled eggs and sausage patties) particularly full. Decaf coffe in the urn was burned and bitter, probably from sitting all morning. Also, it was extremely hot and humid in the dining room due to the pool, i guess. There was a fan direczed into the employee area but not any relief for the guests. I guess that keeps people from sitting too long. We love Kalkaska but may have to look for different accommodations. They did give me a partial refund to try to make it right. I'm glad ownership is going to put some money into a renovation.

The place is old and needs updates. However it was mostly clean and comfortable. We had a Jacuzzi room, it didn't work. The mini fridge quit working the last night. Asked the front desk for a room credit. They said they would talk to manager and call us back. No credit, no call.

This place was horrible. It said nonsmoking yet my room smelled like smoke and grease. There were holes in the walls, the carpet was filthy, there were stains on the ceiling and there were holes in the furniture. Staff didn’t really care and just blamed the owner.
