Every house has pluses and minuses. The pluses are the location, the kayaks, the easy check in, and you can tell that when he built the cabin a lot of thought and care went into it. We were surprised how much we loved a local diner called Yankee Boy, highly recommend. The guest book is thoughtful and professional. The lake is beautiful with clear water and the location is green and close to Traverse City. The minuses are that the shower needs repairs. The caulk is in rough shape and there are large stains and it doesn't work well. Another area of improvement is more information about the water. As I noticed in previous reviews, the water has a bad smell. I assumed it was well water when I read the reviews, which I grew up with and am comfortable with, but when we got there is was not a well water smell. Honestly it smells like dirty diapers. It does appear to be well water but I don't think that's the cause. Perhaps it is a regional smell? I think a page in the guest book explaining the smell would help. We didn't dare drink it and I'll pretty much drink any water. Also, this comfortably fits four people. The futon was covered in food crumbs and very uncomfortable. The air mattress deflates. The whole house could use a deep clean...lots of dust and cobwebs. That sounds bad, but again, it is a lovely area and a lovely cabin. I wouldn't skip it because a few small things would make it great.
