Location to Chichen Itza is great and we appreciated the tour guide and early ticket purchases arranged by the hotel to beat the queues. The staff were very helpful and friendly overall and there seems to be a lot of work going on across the resort.
That said, I’m not sure why ratings for the hotel and rooms is so high amongst other guests.
Despite having a superior room it was tired. The shower didn’t drain at all well so flooded the bathroom floor, there was no sound proofing and we could hear everything going on along the balcony outside and down in the gardens below. On the second morning before check out we had to endure 2.5 hours (8-10.30am) of someone chainsawing logs in the garden.
The site seemed to have been hit by a storm or been allowed to fall into a state of disrepair as many of the chalets had thatched roofs that had fallen in. Maybe as we visited out of season it will all be fixed in time.
Restaurant was ok with a range of options but after eating there a couple of times, options felt limited.
Breakfast was expensive and not worth it as an add on.
