The shower kept leaking, bathroom floor would be soaked with water. We Informed the front staff, gentleman came in and used towels to soak up all the water, wasn’t repaired so everyday we had the same issues. Very, very, noisy, you hear everything going on outside. House keeping just enters your room before asking if services are needed. No “Do Not Disturb sign provided by Hotel. Not beach front. No option to have a massages on the beach, only pool side offered. Night time security sleeps while on the job, did not make me feel safe at all, multiple time we were able to go in and out of the hotel without him noticing due to him sleeping.

We picked this hotel do to the location, location was good and we were kind of in the middle of everything from the beach, shops, and nightlife. As others have stated the noise is pretty loud at night. Not so much the music from the clubs but from the noise of cars and motorcycles racing up and down to street on each side of the hotel. I do believe that if we visit again we would probably pay a little more and be beach front. This is a no frills hotel, very basic, no restaurant or bar. But it is clean and everyone there is very friendly and helpful.

the biggest issue is the early morning trash noise and disruption - the loudness of the lcoation on the main street made it hard to have uninteruppted sleep. Should give people noise canceling headphones or warn them

The hotel has no sound barrier, it is located on two busy streets, so you can hear everything outside. Very difficult for sleeping. The bathroom shower doesn't drain well, so you are showering in a pool of water. There was very little room to put your things as there is no closet or shelve space. Some hooks on the walls in the room would have helped. We luggage/bags are just placed on the floor, while the room is already small. Conveniently located across the street from the beach. But I would trade to live 5 min walk away from the main street so I can sleep.

I loved the location of Hotel Mar Rey. It was close to everything. The estuary was a 15 minute walk and that was the furthest thing from me. The pool is clean, the shared outdoor kitchen is great, and the staff is very friendly. The hotel is older but they do a great job keeping it up. I would stay here again!

Hotel Mar Rey is in an excellent location—right across from public beach access, making it super convenient for enjoying the beach or catching the sunset. It's also surrounded by restaurants, shops, cafés, and a pharmacy. While the hotel is older, it’s clean and well-maintained, with nice bedding. We appreciated the staff’s quick response when we reported a slow water flow in the shower—it was resolved promptly. The main downsides were some noise from outside (understandable given the age of the building and limited soundproofing) and the lack of breakfast or complimentary coffee. Overall, we had a comfortable and pleasant stay.
