The room should have been serviced on the 2nd day of our stay but was missed. When brought to their attention, only a small part of what should have been done was done. The hotel was servicing many coach loads of people with too few staff.

Not what was expected

The photos dont correspond to the conditions of the hotel. Everything was quite old and decrepit. The floors in the hallways were skew, the room has a unpleasant smell , and the ceiling had quite severe water damage. The sheets also were stained. Though the breakfast was quite pleasant and staff were kind. Overall, mediocre at best.

Subpar experience, requires modernising.

The building itself and the surrounding area is stunning, however the room I booked looked nothing like it did in the pictures. The room was disproportionally large, it created a feeling of coldness and the lighting in the bedroom and bathroom gave the room a very clinical feel. The bathroom itself was extremely dated, and again felt very clinical. The service from the staff was subpar with the exception of a younger man who was working on reception at night, he was extremely friendly. This is a hotel with strict rules, the bar shuts early, the pool table is unavailable later in the evening and the door is locked at 1am. The management of this hotel should consider modernising both the rooms and overall guest experience, if not, the prices should be lowered. This is a two star experience in the opinion of someone who regularly books hotels.

Personnel lacked commitment. Breakfast fast was borderline, empty trays were not filled up when there was plenty of breakfast-time to go. We booked a premium room which was a good size and newly refurbished. Mattress was new and firm as required. Bed size could have been a little larger. Nice bed cover. Adequate free parking facilities. Lift more than dated.

Oh dear catalogue of catastrophes. Room not finished. Food was appalling undercooked or overcooked only 3 choices for dinner. No red meat. Breakfast bacon was half cooked. Coffee lukewarm. Need to work harder to attract the right clientele.

Lovely hotel

This was a lovely out of the way hotel with a large room and bathroom. Our stay was very comfortable. We did not have breakfast in the morning so can not comment on the food

No hot water but nice enough hotel.

Nice old hotel, bright and airy. Room was ok, nice and large and comfy bed. Only stayed for 1 night during a road trip. There was no hot water in the morning from any tap so both unable to shower and the tv wouldnt work without being connected to the internet which it refused to do. The excuse of a power cut overnight meant there was no hot water and that all the internet connections has disconnected. No refund or discount offered, just a lame apology which i dont feel was good enough considering we had been driving for 10 hours and a hot shower would have been appreciated.

Pros: super sweet staff. Very welcoming and friendly. Location was very pretty. Close to a lot of things. Cons: water stopped working morning we left. Beds were pretty rough—lots of springs and you could feel them. Walls were thin—could hear the neighbors watching movies and talking.

It’s a wonderful building with rich history. Excellent location. Downsides, it does not come with parking and that should be amended. While I realize they’re working on building a new car park, parking for guests was a concern. Air conditioning would be nice. It was really warm in our room
