Enjoyed our Anniversary Getaway

This was our first time in South Bend as we celebrated our anniversary and this holiday inn was impeccable to the front desk manager greeting us with a warm and friendly welcome to the waitress who waited on us for our morning breakfast. The staff was constantly cleaning even soo much that they went extensive lengths to cleaning the carpets in one elevator, and the housekeepers did an awesome job cleaning our room definitely will be returning.

Check in was fast we headed up to our room to find a bunch of hair on one of our beds. I called reception immediately and we were switched to a new room. The new room seemed ok, in the night I found blood on our comforter. I threw it on the floor to sleep with the sheet. I didn’t bother telling the staff because I was tired of dragging things into different rooms. If I wasnt travelling with my daughter I would have left during the first night

Rooms are decent; lobby level needs help

The lobby smells terribly of mold/mildew and all the furniture is pretty old. The laundry, while free which is AWESOME, is kinda yuck because the washer has black mold spots. The rooms are better in terms of feeling a bit fresher so they may just need to dehumidify the main floor. Housekeeping ladies were polite and helpful. The front desk attendants were the absolute pits. You had to almost be curt to tear them away from their cell phones (once the barkeep had to yell at a girl to pay attention to us). I get that it can be slow and you. A get wrapped up in scrolling, but a little more attentiveness would go a long way.

I reached out to the general/ property manager on 8/9/25 and he has not responded to my email yet. While I understand and have no major issues with the hotel other than the loud and heavy bathroom door and the incidental charges, I was not informed of them prior to my card being charged. It took me walking by to overhear another guest being informed of the charge and I checked my account to see I was charged this fee. The lack of communication caught me off guard, especially under the circumstances. I believe a brief explanation at check-in would have ensured transparency and avoided any confusion.
