Woken up at 5.30am by fire alarm. A false alarm set off by someone using shower and not shutting bathroom door do steam set off to be alarm. The fire alarm system really does need updating so that this does not happen.

Problem with room initially allocated. Had not been cleaned properly. Toilet had not been cleaned and flushed. When flushed it proved to be blocked. Reception lady very helpful, welcoming and cheery. Swapped rooms without fuss. Poor night's sleep due to traffic noise from M1. Needswindows refitted with better noise proof glazing. Gutters also need attention. Rain during night overflowed gutters and also noisy as it did so.

The room was clean and fresh on arrival and in perfect order. We had a good night’s sleep with very little noise around. The receptionists were welcoming, polite and efficient. However, a £5 charge for parking was a surprise. If it is in the small print Hotels.com failed to highlight this extra charge which is disappointing. .

An overnight stay with my dog.

A comfortable, nice size room. Overall the room was fine the only point of improvement would be the bathroom suite was tired looking and was worn in places. Nice grassed area outside to get the dog out while we stayed. (not enclosed/secure) Also never had to pay additional parking when staying at a motorway hotel outside of the London area. Only £5 but an additional cost upon arrival. Although signage did suggest this was included if you booked direct with Days Inn.
