Over familiar it may be but the phrase “location, location, location” remains a vital consideration when assessing any property. And Marinella Blanca easily ranks with the best on offer. Tucked into a side road a stone’s throw from the exclusive marina (there is a lovely view of the yachts and ultra-fashionable yacht club from the second floor terrace) this smart, well-designed home boasts all the superb facilities of family-friendly Cala d’Or virtually ‘on the doorstep’. Recently built, to a high standard, guests not only have two appealing sandy cove beaches within walking distance but also all the shops, bars and restaurants one could possibly wish for. With such boundless cross-generational appeal as well as that much sought after convenience of not needing to rely on a car to enhance your holiday enjoyment Marinella Blanca is extremely hard to fault.
Modern and stylishly minimalist the property interior is bright and appealing with muted colours and a subtle nautical flair enhancing the décor. Patio doors from the open plan ground floor open onto a shaded dining terrace overlooking the private pool while the barbecue is conveniently accessed off the kitchen opposite. Two of the first floor bedrooms lead onto a further terrace from where views to the marina and across to the town can also be enjoyed.
Independent of age, you will find independence is easy in this desirable spot. Turn right out of the front gate and a few minutes’ walk takes you down to the calming oasis of Cala d’Or marina where the chic bars and restaurants that fringe the quayside offer a front row seat for an aquatic, constantly changing panorama as some of Mallorca’s most impressive watercraft come and go. Tear up your timetable, you are now on holiday time! Why not order a drink, sit back and simply allow the marina’s laid-back, calming and gentle pace of life to absorb you?
Just 300m away in the other direction a more lively but no less appealing experience awaits in the town’s network of pedestrianised streets which are lined with a vast choice of amenities including supermarkets, boutiques, coffee shops, snack bars and restaurants serving a fascinating range of multi-national cuisine. Families in particular return year after year as the town offers something to suit virtually all tastes and budgets, including a nightlife that is engaging and vibrant yet bears little relation to any of the hustle, bustle (or overt commercialism) associated with the more developed pockets of the island.
'Golden cove' (in fact the same 'cala d'or' after which the town is named) is just a 700m stroll away with the larger beach of Cala Gran, regularly awarded a coveted Blue Flag for quality and facilities, only 100m further. In addition the beaches of Cala Esmeralda (1.4km), Ferrera (2.1km) and Serena (2.5km) are also close to hand while activities including watersports, boat hire, fishing trips, scuba diving, tennis courts and bicycle hire are all easily found in the local vicinity.
