The staff was amazing, the hotel has 3 floors and has an elevator, good breakfast (pastries, juice and coffee). Overall it was a very good experience and the location is beautiful. Parking was very easy to find. Something extra I enjoyed a lot was that they have a very nice set of soaps and lotions that they also sell in the hotel.

We loved Hotel Villa Carlton! The space is beautiful and the room was quite large compared to other hotels we stayed at during our trip to Austria. Super close to the river, which makes for a beautiful walk into the old town!

The premier room did not have a bath - there was an IT failure so no other room could be allocated. Three lights were out in the bathroom and only one was replaced. Someone broke a glass in the room and we counted 8 shards of glass. Breakfast was scant - rolls and jam. The coffee was terrible, but that seems to be the case all over Salzburg (an opportunity for a good coffee shop perhaps). The decor was weird - not fascinating, rather off putting rather than zany. The road noise was dreadful all through the night meaning one could not open a window - earplugs are a must. It is not even a main road but there is a junction on the corner.

How does Villa Carlton get the rating it has? Our room did not have adequate heating as one old radiator did not work at all, and the other radiator barely worked. There was no coffee maker in the room. There was no refrigerator in the room. The noise level is high as the Villa Carlton is located on a busy street. The neighborhood is unsafe. The hotel locks it front entry at 8:00pm and guests must use a side entry. The first floor rooms have bars across all the windows. The breakfast is exaggerated as there is coffe, juice and day old pastries. The manager does not care as guests have already paid for their stay. In 4 years of traveling in Europe the Villa Carlton is the most overrated hotel we have ever stayed at. The ratings need to be current as the neighborhood is unsafe.

Wow. What a beautiful hotel. I have travelled the world on business and personal holidays. This is one of the most comfortable I have stayed in. The room I was in had a seating area to watch tv and a separate bedroom. Beautifully renovated. Walkable to the old town. Fabulous holiday!

Nice Property, waljing distance to majority of all sites. Staff provided excellent service. The breakfast just a roll , jam and coffee. Unfortunately it doesn’t open till 7:30am. It would be nice if they would provide hot water and coffee 24hrs. The reason I gave an average rating is because the housekeeper put our dirty towels on the bed and didn't provide new towels amd put a half of roll of toliet paper on the holder. Worsy housekeeping in all my travels.

A lovely hotel in a convenient location. Easy walk to the station and along the river to the old town. Our room was well furnished and clean with a large walk in shower and comfortable bed. The staff were lovely, very efficient and friendly and provided helpful suggestions to make the most of our brief stay. A simple breakfast of coffee and croissants was provided. Disappointing service, especially for a hotel rated 4 stars. I booked a room for my mum and her small dog. We specifically chose Villa Carlton because it claimed to have on-site parking and to be pet-friendly. After a long day of travel, my mum arrived to find no parking available, and the receptionist made no effort to help or suggest alternatives. She was completely left to fend for herself in an unfamiliar city. After searching unsuccessfully for street parking, she asked to park in the hotel’s delivery area just overnight. The receptionist responded with an eye-roll and unwelcoming attitude, and told her to be gone by 7 AM. When my mum asked if she could leave her keys so someone could move the car while she had breakfast (as is common in 4-5 hotels), the answer was just “no.” The hotel building itself is nice but if you’re expecting service to match the stars, you’ll be disappointed.
