Eric was super helpful in making a space for us to stay near L’Anse aux Meadows during this busy season. It’s a strange place, this old school, but our room was spacious and very comfortable, with a large screen, kitchen, and nice big tub. Much thanks!

The accommodations are in a converted school. It appears the owners are working hard to convert the school, but the finishing touches are not complete. The room was spacious, very clean. Well equipped kitchenette. Bathroom was clean but the trim around the door and the tub are not complete. I would stay here on another trip to the area. Kudos to the owners for their efforts.

We spent 3 nights here in Oden’s Den. We chose this property because of our interest in how a school had been repurposed. We were blown away by the size and comfort of the rooms. Some of the rooms had beautiful views from their windows of the icebergs close by. This is a great spot to be for easy access to many sight seeing trips. And the recommendation for dinner was excellent as well (we went there twice). Our host was friendly and knowledgeable. Great vibe here.

The owner is in the process of converting an elementary school into a hotel. It’s a work in progress. There is a game room, library, gymnasium, and more. I’m sure it will be great when it is finished.

This school turned hotel is awesome! A unique and fun experience! We stayed in a family suite. The room was spacious, the kitchen fully equipped, and huge bathroom. The game room was fun for our kids (ping pong, pool table, air hockey, and more) .

The idea of staying in an old school was very interesting and neat. Unfortunately our experience was horrible though. After checking in we realized we didn't received our room we booked. We payed for a larger suite and one with a full kitchen with and oven/stove. We didn't see any staff the whole time we were there after check in and didnt feel comfortable even bringing it up. The shower had hair in it, old used towel hung on the door and the hot plate for cooking was so dirty and only one burner was working. Our key tag said the name of the suite that we payed for but the room door had a different name. Clearly there was a mix up eith over booking and the owner knew.. honestly just a horrible experience for us. Empty beer cans and garbage in the gym, game room and halls.

I'll start with the positives. The bed was comfortable, the room was spacious, and the bathroom was clean. There were a few issues that affected our stay. Communication before and during check-in was confusing. When we arrived, we were directed to a room that was not ours and had to contact the property to get the correct room assignment. Clearer directions and confirming room assignments before guests arrive would make the check-in process much smoother. The kitchen faucet was also not working during our stay. It wasn't a major issue, but it meant we had to wash our dishes in the bathroom. The property is a former school that has been converted into accommodations. It felt like the accommodation was still being organized, and the check-in process was not as streamlined as at a typical hotel or established vacation rental. If you're planning to stay here, I'd recommend reaching out to the property in advance to confirm your room assignment and check-in instructions.
