The overall experience was wonderful - the aesthetic and vibe of the room, the staff was superb (thank you, Paula, for all your suggestions), and the location was perfect. Our one suggestion would be to have a proper non-smokey mirror for tasks like putting on makeup or shaving. Other than that, it was perfect!
Beautiful room and very quiet area a block away from many restaurants. The room had an excellent view of chateau Frontenac that was a 5 minute walk away. excellent staff and communications as well. Only issue with our room was that the water pressure was very poor that the shower barely worked (the rain head not at all) - apparently it was just our room being at the top so perhaps inquire about this. It was manageable to shower but should be fixed - would definitely stay here again regardless.
The hotel is only three months old and is quite modern inside. We liked the spaciousness of our room. Unfortunately, our stay was impacted by the fact that the water pressure to the shower and sinks were quite low due to the suite being on the top floor. We brought this to the staff's attention and they noted that a prior customer had had the same complaint. Unfortunately, the problem may be long term. If a nicely operating shower is important, and especially for the amount of the nightly room cost, avoid staying on the top floor. There were a couple of other more minor problems like an inoperational rainfall shower head and inoperable coffee maker.

Disliked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Aside from check in with RoseMarie, who was lovely and helpful, there were no visible staff at this hotel during our 3 day stay. Front desk is only open 9-5 and we had to call an after hours number on our second day for fresh towels because no one had come during the entire day we were out to freshen the room. We were told they “forgot”. The bedding was slightly soiled on the top cover but was not changed during our 3 day stay. The bedside light would randomly turn on and off throughout our entire stay. Although the hotel is newly renovated and aesthetically very nice, aside from initial check in there was no communication. It was not a welcoming environment. This hotel is on 3 floors wth no elevator, so keep that in mind. We are older travellers and the three storey climb to the room the end of a day walking the steep hills of Quebec City was the icing on the cake. For about $400 per night we expected a better experience.
Paula was a fantastic host. She was very welcoming and gave us the time to explain all great spots to explore. She fave us a map and circled the spots to visit. She checked with us daily. My only disappointment was the water pressure in the shower. At some points it only trickled out and was very difficult to shower.
This boutique hotel was recently renovated and is very modern. The staff and manager were extremely helpful. The location is close to the Château Frontenac and Dufferin Terrace, yet very peaceful.
« Un séjour absolument magnifique à la Maison du Fort dans le Vieux-Québec. L’accueil a été extraordinaire, chaleureux et attentionné du début à la fin. Nous avons eu la chance de loger dans une suite très charmante, décorée avec goût et d’une grande beauté. Une expérience inoubliable, que je recommande sans hésiter! »

The hotel maison was beautiful. Recently renovated. Unfortunately the air conditioning was not working in our room (Cinq). The hotel reception staff leave at 5pm in the evening therefore we just reported it in the morning after a very uncomfortable sleep. The room temperature was 26.5 degrees Celsius overnight - extremely uncomfortable. Thankfully they had a pedestal fan in the room which we used the entirety of the time we were there.
I only ever book properties with air conditioning, but unfortunately the lack of AC put a damper on our stay.
Stayed in the apartment that has 2 floors. It is a separate building right next door to the hotel building. It is newly renovated and very beautiful and comfortable. It is very quiet. The neighborhood is right in the old town and it is a close walk to all of the sights and restaurants of the old town. Parking is just up the street. The upstairs bed is very comfortable and even the downstairs sofa bed is fine. The upstairs shower has a glass wall looking into the room which seems strange. We just announced showers so the rest of our group would stay downstairs at that time, so not a problem. I would love to stay there again.
Right in the heart old Quebec, very close the all the attentions but not right in it so you get some peace and quiet from the busy area. Very clean, modern yet old style
Beautiful recent renovations. Paula the director of the hotel is super friendly and helpful as well as other staff. The only thing is that the room could use a few more hooks and hangers to put your clothes especially if you are there for more than 3 nights. We were living out of our suitcase. Overall a 10/10
This hotel offers a truly unique and modern experience. The exposed brick walls and spacious shower add a stylish, contemporary touch that really stands out. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and everything was clearly explained, making check-in and navigating the hotel easy. Highly recommended for a comfortable and refreshing stay!
