a RIU is a RIU. theyre NOT 5 star service its not 5 star food its not a 5 star resort. but its REALLY REALLY good at being a RIU and being predictable. things they do REALLY well: TACOS, theres a taco bar set up at EVERY buffet night reguardless of theme in the main buffet, hot crispy french fries (99% of the time) for a buffet, burgers available almost 24 hrs a day, mini bar, pools, bars, drink carts, smoking section, buffet ice cream, nice staff, housekeeping. things they could work on: ANY soda i could find was diet. i bought a regular coke in the gift shop and it was excellent cuz everythiing else is diet. i was originally booked at RIU jaliasco and was switched to RIU vallarta UNDER A PROMOTION FOR A BETTER ROOM is what i was told. and i had to realy ask for the better room, cuz the room they gave me view was of a parking lot and iwas not happy. so, if youre givig someone a promotion and its supposed to be an UPGRADE,dont give them a yucky view. all in all the Riu vallarta was grest, it was just what i needed.

Good value hotel. The staff was friendly and enjoyed the entertainment offered each day. It's definitely an older property so the rooms and lobby are very much out dated. The food is very mid ( very resort - like) but not terrible. Pool areas were nice, great beach access and plenty food options.

First time on this resort, great kids pool , food court plenty of seating , lots of restaurants to choose from , amazing beach and at night Entertainment always great .

Everything was great except the reception desk. Very rude and unprofessional. I had only one positive experience at reception desk with young girl with dark hair who helped us with my kids bed. Otherwise, food was good, entertainment was great and we enjoyed the beach!

My husband and I stayed with two kids in one room. The sad part was that there was no door that would separate the bathroom and the hotel room. Property would get really dirty with used drink cups all over the place. Staff is super friendly though. Food is pretty much the same in every restaurant. Water in the pools was visibly dirty. The beach is nice with plenty of chairs available. But they charge $20 for umbrellas. One smoking area with two chairs. Okay overall but wouldn’t go back

For the price of the trip it’s was okay, my concerns were late food accommodations after 12pm. The only food that was available after 13 was burgers and hotdogs in fridge of a cafe I mean for a resort that low budget stuff, at least have a mini buffet with a small variety for the adults that stay out at the dance club/hall that’s open till 2am

This was our second time staying at the Riu Jalisco and yet again it was an awesome stay! The food options are endless with their 5 restaurants. The main buffet provides many of different tastes for some with the urge to try Mexican cuisine to the simplest taste of pizza and fries. The rooms had WiFi which was a big plus as some resorts only have wifi in the lobby/certain area. I can’t thank enough for the staff as they were so friendly and made our trip that much more fun!!! Everyday they had activities such as beach volleyball, soccer, ping pong, darts and many more! If you aren’t one to do activities you can easily just chill at the pool or the beach and have some drinks. Some resorts have really rocky beaches but this beach has soft sand so perfect for swimming! It was just my boyfriend and I and it was fun for us adults as they have the adult party/show later evening but would also be great for families as well as they also had a kids show early evening. Would highly recommend riu jalisco and know for a fact that we will be going there again!!

the only thing i didn't like is that they don't have a smoking area, next time i'll spend my vacation on a cruise ship, they take better care of people like me!
