We did not have a good experience about our check-in services ! I had booked an ocean view room but it was not even a partial view. The process to change our room turned into a very unpleasant experience ! Long story short, we almost were going to call the Tourist Police to resolve the issue !

- Not an ocean view, at the best partial view when you are at inch away from window. - ocena view room goes to “Friet club members” whatever that mean and roomshare people I guess - Very friendly staff -Good entertainment daily from Yoga to Dance to Beach/water volleyball and ping pong/tennis - onsite nightly live show - open bar till 1:00 AM - fast checkin - a little issue with restocking the room and room service, have to drag them each time - limited small gym facility - Saki at a $$ in Japanese restuarant!! - 3/6 hours late checkout for $50/100 USD, but can’t use your room (?!?!)

It was a smaller resort so we met people and got to know some of the staff. There was lots of activities during the day. One day we didn’t have hot water and our room wasn’t cleaned but otherwise we enjoyed the resort.

We didn’t have high expectations when we booked on Expedia so we weren’t disappointed, however if we had paid a premium we would’ve been disappointed. We stayed at this resort 6yrs ago pre covid which was booked through a travel agent. 6yrs ago it was a nice resort and we left impressed but this time we booked far in advance through Expedia at a great rate. Which translates to small room without a view. We noticed the differences right away. The resort is starting to show its age although it looks beautiful upon arrival. The resort is small so pool chairs were all spoken for the by the early birds and they’re towels. Bar service wasn’t as good as before and forget about it if you wanted a drink on the beach. Food was OK, nothing really remarkable same with dining service. Water and coffee refills were hard to come by. Room was very humid and smelled of mildew. On our last night the hot water wasn’t working but fortunately it was fixed by the next morning. All in all we got our moneys worth so we didn’t leave disappointed. We just checked into the Secrets Vallarta Bay for our 2nd and the difference is extreme. But then again we’re paying 3X the rate. Don’t expect 5star resort but if you temper your expectations it’s still a nice resort on a nice beach.

Certainly a decent resort. Friendly staff, very clean, evening shows were entertaining. In comparison to other Barcelo's I have stayed at, the food was okay, but not the usual standard I have seen. (The restaurants at Barcelo in San Jose de Cabo were exceptional.) The furniture in the bar lounge really needs to be replaced. The red plush chairs had the sunken uncomfortable butt area, that was hard to get out of!

This was our second time to this resort and we absolutely love it! All the staff are amazing, especially Rene, Brian, angel, Andres and Armando. Only issue was front desk staff were not very friendly or helpful.

We are not a "write a review" couple. But I do value other's opinions and make choices on where to stay based on how many stars, the number ranking and reviews. This was rated as 4 stars and 8.2 out of 10. And priced like a 4-star, 8.2 property. It was not. We've been to many all-inclusive resorts and have loved them all. We're not fussy, we are regulars at the buffet without complaint and understand the drinks are not top shelf. No problem, we're there for the experience. First, I made a mistake and booked the wrong dates for the room versus our flights. Big, costly mistake. After several attempts with Expedia and the property, I gave up trying to adjust our room dates and ate the cost of adding another night. Again, my bad. But all they had to do was change our room selection from a Wednesday to Sunday to a Thursday to Monday. Doesn't seem that complicated. I knew from the reviews it was a smaller resort and was fine with that. We like the beaches in this area and it is walkable to shopping/groceries, etc. This place is old and the rooms show it. But it was clean and ok. Oceanfront but no balcony. You couldn't even open the window to hear the ocean. Big disappointment. In 4 days sitting on the chairs in the sand, we had not one server bring us or anyone around us drinks. The buffet size and selection was the smallest we've ever seen. And the servers, usually the highlight of our trips, were really bad. Disinterested. No smiles. Except the bartenders.

I have stayed at Occidental two or three times now and it has always been good, except this time there weren’t enough lounge chairs. People take the beach towels to their room and then come out at seven in the morning and reserve all the chairs so there’s nothing available when you show up at eight.

A beautiful property, very helpful staff, a noisy room was replaced by a much quieter one. There seem to be either too many people or not enough staff in the buffet dining room. Last year there were no lineups for meals, but this year was a more common occurrence.

The food was excellent. The room was clean and well thought out. Spacious with a nice table and two chairs, comfortable bed, enough cupboard space for clothes and belongings. The property itself was clean, tidy and well maintained. The beach was long and walkable. Highly recommended.

This is our 2nd time here. We stayed at Royal level which I highly recommend. A few quirks: creamer comes in a glass for room service. No, alcohol delivered to room service. You have to go to the 7th floor bar and they give you plastic cups. Really wish they served food pool side like other Occidental’s. Over all a great resort.
