Comfortable property with great views in an outstanding location. The 4x4 truck came in useful for the track to the house but the car was ok with it as well. Would recommend to friends.
We loved our stay at High Bield. We love the house. We felt it wasn't as clean as the last time we stayed but this didnt spoil our enjoyment. Our dog Nell loved the garden. She would go and find sticks to chew. The two young boys enjoyed exploring the garden as well and loved seeing the frog sporn in the pond. The best part is the views in the morning-wow. We hope to be back next year
The location of the house and the views were absolutely amazing - and from a group of walkers who have had many years spending time in the Lakes it was the best that we have stayed as a group. The house as well was really cosy, was clean and fresh, had loads of character, and history, which we enjoyed reading up about. And it was great to see some references and touches around the house in a nod to its past. The track leading up was not as bad as we had thought that it would be, but a really lower car, may have a an issue in a few places with a few lumps and bumps. Once we were there though, we didn't have to drive again as the footpaths run right past the property, and the walking in this area is great.
We had a lovely stay at this lovely house. We found the house very welcoming and it even had a Xmas tree and decorations up. The kitchen was very well stocked. We all found the beds comfortable. The route up to the house is not for the faint hearted but worth it once you arrive at the property. Thank you for a wonderful stay
Fantastic location with amazing views and access to great walks. Beautifully appointed and cosy for nights in after hiking. Very spacious with five bedrooms and a generous living area.
Overall an excellent place high on a hillside above the village. The cottage comes with a bit of history and bar a couple of minor snags we enjoyed our stay.
This was our second stay at High Bield, and it was brilliant once again. The location is second to none, and the views were as superb as ever. You need to be able to stomach a tight lane to get to the place, but once you’re there you will be more than happy. The place is extremely well equipped and very very homely. We shall be back again!
Really lovely cottage in a great location. Amazing views. We were lucky enough to see the fighter jets flying right past the house!!! We would definitely return.
This is such a special place to stay. Views are absolutely stunning and the house is delightful. Loved the bedrooms. But if you're used to wide, flat Western Australian roads like we are, just be aware the drive up is not for the fainthearted! Wished we had longer to stay, would definitely come back if we had the opportunity, this was our favourite of all the places we stayed in the UK.
A wonderful place to stay for a family holiday in the Lakes. Not easy to drive to so good for people who want to do lots of walks and exploring in the area. There is a beautiful waterfall only about 15 mins walk from the house. We also went swimming in Brotherswater. The view from the house was amazing and the house itself was very well equipped with plenty of games and books available.
This was our third time staying here and we absolutely love it. It has beautiful views, amazing walks without having to take the car, well equipped kitchen. It is just perfect and we will be back again!
Great stay in a quieter area of the lakes.
Magnificent views all around the property. Lots of walks nearby.
Nice and cosy property especially with the log burner. Comfy beds and everything you would need for a relaxing few days away.
We had a great stay, big enough to not feel cramped, clean, warm, fantastic view and we saw red squirrels every morning! Very narrow steep drive so would bring a car with decent ground clearance to not hit the bash plate when driving over the water drain
