We took time to read the reviews prior to booking as they are very mixed.
We were greeted when we arrived early and checked in smoothly and quickly.
We were aware of the $100 cash deposit so had this available.
Our room was on the 6th floor and very quiet despite there being roadworks outside.
The lobby and lift were very clean with a vending machine and microwave available. We also were able to leave luggage at our own risk on check out as we had an evening flight.
The room was very clean. It was -7 during our stay and the heating did quickly warm us up.
The bed was comfortable and I am sure an extra blanket could be provided if required.
In places the decor does show signs of age but it is functionable and clean. There were some areas that needed a deeper clean but it was not filthy just some decorating signs and some deeper cleaning around some of the grouting in the bathroom.
The bathroom had a hair dryer, bath and shower. The water pressure and temperature of the water were good nice and warm. The bathroom however did get chilly at night!!!!
The bedding was clean and there was housekeeping daily if required. Towels were clean and soft.
Being British we did miss having facilities in the room to make a hot drink as it is standard in the hotels in the UK to have a kettle but I am aware US hotels do not.
Would happily have rented a kettle and mugs if they were available.
LOCATION is great for access to the subway and within walking distance to Roosevelt Island
