Beautiful location and very clean/quiet facility that is unique and interesting. Only drawback is that there is a garbage mill near by which is very odorous in the evening/night, and the building is showing some signs of aging

Peaceful place to stay away from the city

The guesthouse and its location were very good. Due to its remote location, the best way to commute is by taking a rental car. It was a bit strange that Google maps doesn't have the route map for the last 1.5km to the guesthouse. However, there was a signboard to the guesthouse which helped. The stay was pleasant and the kitchen & bathrooms were in very good condition. The only downside was that our grocery items were stolen from the common refrigerator. So, please be careful and store the non-perishable goods in the room instead of the refrigerator.

The property look run down, definitely in the middle of no where, the room was crawling with bugs and dirty under the bed. Barely had heat. The water will tarnish your jewelry, due to the water system. The water stinks and smells like eggs. Will go the extra mile and stay in hotel

We absolutely LOVED Viðines Guesthouse. The morning cleaning staff is so helpful and kind that we all cried before leaving. The location is beautiful, while not being too far from Reykjavik. The sense of freedom, especially as far as meals are concerned, is invaluable (no schedule imposed whatsoever. Only "negative" point: it is REALLY time for a new toaster! And the free coffee runs out every other day!

Invest in renovating facility, in particular, bath rooms. They were shabby and I did not feel like using it. One of them had poor drainage. Water contains too much sulfur. I understand this property is for cost conscious travelers, but relatively modest renovation could really improve the image of it.
