It appears that as a result of high vehicle theft in the area, a security gate system has been installed. Novotel now charges a daily parking rate of 50$ which is not advertised nor explained on check-in. I was frankly disappointed that this charge was not flagged or explained.

This is the only hotel I stay at when in Montreal. Great for business travelers. I held back a star because the hot water in the shower was intermittent and somewhat annoying. But otherwise my stay was quiet and comfortable. And the staff were excellent. If you're driving, the hotel is perfectly located off the 40 and close to the 13.

There is no customer service at this location. No maid or room service. The front desk employees are rude and not helpful. No coffee at front is available and you have to drink out of paper cups in your room. No pens are supplied in room. The pool and hot tub is cold. For 200 dollars a night you do not get what you pay for.

On the plus side, the hotel is very conveniently located to all major routes to access the Montreal area - downtown, areas north of the city, the north island and the West Island. Parking is free. On the down side, we stayed 2 nights and the room was not made up after the first night (essentially not made up during our stay). Also they have a gated entry and exit to and from the parking area (car theft protection I imagine). It was not explained to us at check-in how to exit the parking lot (easy enough to figure out once you are there but not entirely intuitive). Otherwise the staff were very good.
