This hotel is located on a street where protests occur frequently, which I understand and accept. What is unacceptable, however, is the hotel’s complete lack of assistance for guests who are blocked from entering the property. Guests are left standing on the street with their luggage, vulnerable and exposed, with no guidance or support from hotel staff. This is not only unsafe, but entirely inappropriate for a hotel of this caliber. The best thing about this hotel is JOSE, the head porter, he is EXCEPTIONAL.

This hotel felt like it has been neglected. The plug in the bath didn't fit properly, so couldn't stay in it for long. On the first day the housekeeping removed the whole plug mechanism (a metal, jointed affair) from the bath and didn't put it back. I tried but failed, so no more baths for me. With full-on hot water only, it was only just warm enough for a bath. A couple of times my shower was tepid at best. If I had been shaving, I would have had to boil water to get it hot enough for that - but no kettle in the room. The air con controls on the wall did not seem to have any power, so that wasn't available. My room had a little kitchenette, with sink, microwave and coffee percolator. But....no cutlery or crockery of any kind. No milk (powdered or long-life) with the tea/coffee tray, or teaspoon. There was powdered milk inside the packet with the coffee bag in it but if you don't drink coffee you wouldn't know. I didn't have breakfast. Pool and gym were small but pretty good. I had a meal in the restaurant and the appetizer was enormous (and tasty)! The staff were very courteous and friendly. Going for a quiet night cap in the bar was of course accompanied by blaring, horrible dance music. That seemed to be the case wherever I went though.

Victor the concierge was excellent Immediately connected w us and helped us plan our days while there Even helped secure face painting for the parade on Saturday He made our stay While the hotel is a little worn it was extremely clean Our hskper did a great job keeping our room clean and stocked Front desk was always helpful, friendly and had a smile on their faces the entire time I still rate this experience excellent despite the service in the restaurant which wasn’t good any day Difficult to get coffee, pick up dirty dishes I should have gotten the name of the server that was there each day He was not friendly and seemed to intentionally ignore our table Actually made it uncomfortable to be in there This was for breakfast but overall would return because of victor, hskping and the front desk Location was a plus as well
