The Castle at Skylands Manor is a beautiful property with a very substandard experience for the price. From the start, the experience was not great. Upon arrival, we felt like 2nd class guests. The front desk employee told us to pick up our car passes later and simply left them on the front desk area. We were barred from areas of the hotel being used by the wedding guests and asked, politely, to basically stay in our room. Areas of the lobby, including the main stairs, had items and decoration from the wedding party blocking paths. Twice we were locked out of the front door by wedding guests who had locked the main entrance. During the evening, wedding guests congregated in the hallways and spoke loudly until midnight. One of the guests mistook our room for theirs and was trying to unlock our door with their key, which was very disturbing. Sounds carry very easily into the rooms and for some reason, the door to our room had a window with blinding light from the hallway. Why not just have the hotel closed off to outside guests if there is a planned event? Thought the hotel advertises as having wifi, there was no wifi signal in the room throughout our stay. This is by far the most disappointing hotel experience in several years. Absolutely not worth the money given the dormitory like quality of the room and lack of service from a staff too occupied with the wedding guests.
