What a wonderful place for a multi-generational family vacation! We were 10 people, 6 adults and 4 boys ranging in age from 4 to 10. We all loved swimming and kayaking in the clear waters of Lake Ontario at the edge of the property. We spent most of our time outside with several comfortable seating areas and 2 firepits, Great gas grill, lots of dinners on the patio after feeding the boys indoors at the big dining table. Best sunroom with lots of windows and cool breezes. The trampoline for kids was a HUGE hit as well as the piano and the ping pong table in the Coach House. The tv in the living room was a comfy place for all 4 when they needed to slow down. Well-equipped kitchen. Comfy beds. So much old house charm. The Island itself is a big part of the charm. Topsy Farm and the SHEEP! The Back Kitchen for lunches and ice cream. The car ferry -- get there early! Bring more butter, milk and bread than you think you will need (as well as your other provisions -- very little practical things available). If you love lamb, get some from the freezer at Topsy Farm -- it's the best. Get eggs from the egg lady (sign on her mailbox says EGGS). Interesting rocks, fossils, etc. Bring a geologist if you can (we have one in our family). Dramatic storms come across the lake. Bruce and Carrie are wonderful hosts, quick to respond to every query. We all hope to go back again sometime. A truly unique experience. We loved every bit of it.
