I cannot recommend this hotel. My room reeked of urine — the carpet smelled strongly like it had been soiled (possibly by pets) and the odor was impossible to ignore. Cigarette smoke also came through the vents and hallway, which triggered my asthma and made the stay unsafe for my young children. We had to keep the windows closed and could not relax in the room. On top of the room conditions, the valet was physically blocking the disabled parking spaces with their own signs and cones, preventing use of the accessible spots. That practice appears to be in violation of California law and is unacceptable. Between the health hazards and the apparent disregard for accessible parking, I felt the hotel showed a lack of basic cleanliness and respect for guests’ safety and rights. If you have respiratory issues, small children, or require accessible parking, I would choose a different property. I expected a much higher standard; management needs to address deep cleaning, enforce a strict no-smoking policy, and stop blocking accessible parking immediately. Jose Vargas “parking director” made it clear that if we didn’t like his practices of impeding handicapped spaces we would need to go elsewhere. We asked for upper management and he said “that doesn’t matter. They’ll inquire with me anyways and what I say goes.” We will never stay at this hotel again. Extremely unprofessional and in violation of CVC 22507.8(b). I took photos for proof.
