The hotel is in a beautiful former Victorian home. The room was clean, bed was comfortable and the bathroom was spacious. The breakfast was very good and the staff are all friendly and accommodating.

1st time staying at The Byron ..We arrived early for check in but was able to leave our bags and go off ...We got back late after a show ..Bags in room already..Very clean..plenty of tea coffee..Loved comfortable bed ..Lovely pressed clean bedding ..Breakfast ample choice ..Would highly recommend..

We booked this property well in advance and was impressed with the look of the building. On arrival our stay took a turn for the worse with our introduction to Michael at the front desk. He was lacking hospitality skills, and very abrupt and abrasive when we arrived. We were told we would be in the basement suite, since it would be easier for our suitcases since the elevator had broken down. I tried to get a better room, but that did not seem to be an option. Once in our room it was clean, but we were in the basement of a Victorian house…it was dark and felt and smelt damp. Since we were below street level it was noisy from foot traffic and doors were banging, especially early in the morning. I would NEVER stay at this hotel again. I am a seasoned traveller and this is one of the worse rooms I have stayed in.

Nice hotel with elevator issues

Nice hotel in a quiet area of town. Very inconvenient that we had a fourth floor room and that the elevator was down for days for our entire stay.

The elevator was out of order and our room was on the fifth floor, and the stairways become progressively narrow as you go up, very hard to negotiate with luggage. The room was not much bigger than a broom closet. Though claustrophobic, it was nicely decorated and maintained, and staff were nice. We got the room at a reduced last-minute price; its normal price is far too high for the size of the room.
