I’ve been a VRBO user forever and I have never had a bad stay or written a negative review. First, we are horse people and we were in town for a show at the horse park. I mention that to clarify that we leave at 5am and don’t get back until 9pm and we are not squeamish. This house had clearly been cleaned some time long before we arrived because it was dusty and there were cobwebs blocking doorways. The bed linens were cheap and old with holes in the stitching. The towels looked like someone picked up random towels from a thrift store. We didn’t care about any of that and wouldn’t have mentioned it except that our experience was so terrible I’m compelled to point out every issue. On our second day the air conditioner went out. In July in Kentucky. It was 85 in the house. We messaged the host who berated me for bothering him while he was on his honeymoon. He did have it repaired the next day, but he was so hateful about it that I contacted VRBO to be relocated. (Which we were unable to do because there was literally nothing else available)As we tried to find ways to stay cool overnight, we found numerous safety issues. The windows wouldn’t open, there are missing and non-working smoke detectors, and…we found mouse feces everywhere. I’ll finish with that and attach photos to tell the story. You’ll notice in previous reviews that the host likes to respond to negative reviews. I have no doubt he will respond to this one. Advice: read all the reviews and consider carefully.
