Really quick trip- but the LakeHouse was perfect! We arrived just in time for wine and cheese, which are conveniently placed by the backdoor, as you walk out to the grassy lawn overlooking the lake. We were lucky with perfect August weather; property was perfectly situated overlooking the water.
The next morning, we sipped coffee in the deckchairs and found ourselves looking out at a soaring bald eagle, gliding over the lake.
Positive pieces: the hotel was simple, clean and elegant. The rooms were minimally decorated, making the place feel modern and light and airy. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was attractive and the local toiletries were sweetly honey-scented.
Upsides: all of the kayaks and boats at one's disposal; accessible coffee in the morning, wine in the late afternoon, and cucumber infused water available all day; a very decent breakfast, in three courses.
The biggest selling point is really the lakeside, with excellent proximity to local destinations, such as Tanglewood.
A few minor downsides:
The inn is RIGHT on a heavily trafficked road and if your room is in the front, like mine you will hear traffic. Speaking of noises, I also heard, in mortifying clearness, the acts of the guests directly above me. I didn't take advantage of the white noise machine that I found in a top dresser drawer, but I advise you to do so.
