OLD, TIRED AND YOU CAN’T DRINK THE WATERThe listing for this property makes it sound like a luxury retreat, but the reality is an older estate house in generally poor condition, with creaky floors, rooms that can only be reached through other rooms, and signs that read “Private—Do Not Enter” on doors throughout the house. Other than the kitchen, the decor looks like it has not been updated in at least 50 years and is tired and depressing. The tap water must be boiled to be drinkable, a fact that was only disclosed after booking and payment was complete. Research of the area shows that the wells are contaminated by farm runoff and contain e-coli, cryptosporidium and other bacteria, and while other listings offer reverse osmosis treatment or to truck in fresh water, this one does not. We have stayed in over 100 vacation rentals and this was by far our worst experience..

An absolutely stunning property with a gorgeous view and direct access to Conrad’s Beach! It comfortably held our group of eight, and the kitchen was very well equipped. The host was very responsive when I texted with questions. The pool, tennis courts and deer on the property made for a fun and enjoyable time. We were able to enjoy the view from the sunroom on the rainy days. Just a note the water is not potable, but they do provide some drinkable water for guests.
