We were told Waterfront was a “family-friendly” restaurant, but bar staff asked me to control the noise level of our families’ children. It was not busy where we were seated, but certainly busy at the bar. I’m not sure what they expect from children aged 4-11. Also, we were seated at 7pm and did not receive our food until 8:15pm.

Rooms were cozy and homey just could use a little upkeep, there was water damage in the bathrooms and could use some new paint. The “arcade” was pretty run down, mismatched cheers and tables made it feel like someone’s old basement. Bathrooms in pool area were dirty. Seems like most of the staff were teenagers. I think it was probably amazing in its day but needs some updates. House keeping did an awesome job making up our room when we are out for the day. I appreciate the extra effort they put into arranging the kids stuffed animals on the bed. The ice rink was shut down as well even though I think it could have been open if someone put the effort into maintaining it. The restaurants and bars on site were very nice. We enjoyed the food and drinks. The lobby was decorated really nice for the holidays.

We reserved a room with a king bed, but they said none were available, so we were given a room with two queens. We were given two $15 vouchers for breakfast as compensation, which was nice. In our room, the bathroom could have been cleaned better. We noticed black mold in the shower. There was also debris on the bathroom floor. The carpet could have been vacuumed better. The bedsheets had something crusty on them and there were stains on one of the accent pillows. We did not have cups, bottled water or body soap on the first night; we got them the 2nd day. Service at the Waterfront restaurant was okay but a little slow. The food was decent. The funfetti cake was really good. We were given silverware wrapped in napkins that were still wet. 240 West was good. We had breakfast and dinner there. Service and food were good. The staff was attentive and checked on us regularly. We enjoyed the fires and hot apple cider at night. The live music was a nice touch.

Nice quiet hotel. Room was clean and specious. Friendly staff . Not overstimulated by loud music. Enough activities for the kids around the resort, board games, balls in the pool, daily movies either at the pool or small movie theater. Overall, we are happy with our stay. Couple things to mention, the hotel is big and was hard to navigate at times , it felt like a maze, it would be helpful if there would be more directions/ signs. Also, it was cold in most common spaces( hallways and seating areas ) going from the indoor pool to your room felt very uncomfortable. We were disappointed we could not use the ice skate ring, it was closed.

Rooms were fairly cleaned on the surface. Floors needed to be vacuumed. The bathroom provided 1 set of towels/wash clothes.....we were a family of 3. Housekeeping was a bit slow to respond. Bartender at Waterfront Bar (Austyn) was clearly having a rough day: slamming down cups, huffing and puffing when I asked for a cocktail menu, unpleasant disposition. I'm assuming the bar was short staffed and he was frustrated. Nonetheless, his customer service left a bad taste in my mouth.

We stayed at The Abbey Resort for three days, and unfortunately, it was not a pleasant experience. Considering how much we paid, we expected a welcoming and comfortable stay, but it felt uncomfortable from the start. Most staff were not friendly or welcoming. At the bar, we waited to be served, but the bartender never acknowledged us. After standing there for some time, we felt embarrassed and walked away. Another African American couple shared a similar experience: the bartender slammed his hand on the bar before taking their order, with no clear explanation when questioned. We also had issues with basic room accommodations. We requested additional washcloths and hand soap, which took hours and a second request to receive. The shower water was not hot, making it uncomfortable, and the parking lot had a strong odor of urine—unexpected for a resort of this caliber. With repeated negative interactions and seeing few guests or staff who looked like us, it was difficult not to feel race may have played a role. No guest should feel ignored or unwelcome—especially after paying good money. Unfortunately, this stay did not meet expectations.

The room we stayed was dirty and outdated. The mattress was very dirty. When I showed the pictures of the mattress to the manager ( her name was Veronica), her first response was why did you take the bed cover. She didn’t apologize, instead she started arguing with me that the mattress is not dirty, it look like this from the flipping. The water in the shower was barely warm. I will never go there again and don’t recommend this place to anyone.
